In the quaint town of Cape Charles, Virginia, nestled just before the gateway to the iconic Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel is where we find Modcoach’s Modular Home of the Month.

Village Builders on the Bay, a modular home builder that has become a quiet giant in new home construction within this scenic locale, recently celebrated handing over the keys to a beautifully custom-designed modular home to their clients, marking the culmination of a dream for both the builders and the homeowners.

This isn’t just any home. It’s a bespoke creation, featuring five bedrooms and three baths spread across two stories, boasting a generous 2100 square feet of living space. The design is thoughtfully laid out with a master bedroom on the first floor, seamlessly connecting the dining room, living room, and kitchen in an open-concept design that encourages family gatherings and makes everyday living a breeze.

Crafted with precision and care by Icon Legacy, a custom modular home factory in their Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania factory, this home was then transported to its permanent location on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It stands as a testament to the possibilities of modern modular construction, combining the efficiency and sustainability of factory building with the personalization and quality one might expect from traditional home construction.

What sets this home apart, however, is not just its design and construction methodology, but the splash of personality added by its builders, Bill Doughty and his wife Alexis. Their customers chose to infuse the interior and the front façade of the home with touches of pink, adding a unique and personal flair that reflects the homeowners’ style and the creative spirit of Village Builders on the Bay.

Bill and Alexis Doughty have built a reputation for delivering exceptional modular homes for discerning customers in Cape Charles, a town like no other. Here, residents enjoy the rare privilege of witnessing the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean and, within the same day, watch it set over the vast Chesapeake Bay—a geographical marvel that few places in the United States can claim.

This recent project by Village Builders on the Bay is more than just a home; it’s a beacon of personalized construction, showcasing how traditional craftsmanship can meet modern innovation in a small town with big views. As the Doughtys continue to build and design homes that reflect the unique desires of their clients, they’re not just constructing buildings; they’re creating cherished spaces where memories will unfold, against the backdrop of one of America’s most beautiful landscapes.
